TRICONEX 4201 also known as RXM4201 is a multi-mode fiber remote extender module built with triple modular redundancy (TMR) architecture for Triconex Tricon safety instrumented systems (SIS). This TMR fiber communication module extends TriBus backplane communication between the main Tricon controller rack and remote I/O cabinets by multi-mode optical fiber. The Tricon remote extender module supports maximum transmission distance up to 2 kilometers, and uses ST fiber connectors for stable optical signal transmission. Fiber transmission provides complete galvanic isolation, effectively eliminating ground loop noise and resisting strong electromagnetic interference in heavy industrial sites. It adopts 2-out-of-3 voting logic for all transmitted and received data to avoid single point of failure and guarantee data integrity of safety signals. One primary RXM4201 group can connect up to three remote I/O racks. It continuously monitors optical power, fiber link status and module hardware health, and uploads fault alarm messages to the Tricon engineering workstation once fiber breakage or hardware abnormality is detected. The module supports hot swap operation, maintenance personnel can replace the faulty remote extender module online without shutting down the whole safety system. Front panel LED indicators display module PASS, FAULT, optical transmit and receive status for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. It is installed in dedicated communication slot of standard Tricon rack and cooperates with Tricon processor and all Tricon I/O modules. Widely applied in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical and power industries, this TRICONEX 4201 remote extender module is used for ESD emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection and burner management safety interlock systems with distributed remote I/O layout.
