TRICONEX 4200 also known as RXM4200 is a fiber optic remote extender module built with triple modular redundancy (TMR) architecture for Triconex Tricon safety instrumented systems (SIS). This TMR fiber optic communication module acts as the optical repeater unit to extend the TriBus backplane communication between the main Tricon controller rack and remote I/O cabinets via single-mode fiber cables. The Tricon remote extender module supports long-distance fiber transmission up to 15 kilometers, effectively isolating ground loop interference and resisting strong electromagnetic noise compared with traditional copper wiring. It adopts 2-out-of-3 voting mechanism for all transmitted and received data to avoid single point of failure and maintain the integrity of safety signal transmission. One primary RXM4200 group can connect up to three remote I/O racks. It continuously monitors optical signal power, fiber link status and module hardware health, and uploads fault alarm messages to the Tricon engineering workstation once fiber breakage or hardware abnormality is detected. The module supports hot swap operation, maintenance personnel can replace the faulty module online without shutting down the whole safety system. Front panel LED indicators display module PASS, FAULT, optical transmit and receive status for fast on-site inspection and troubleshooting. It is installed in dedicated communication slot of standard Tricon rack and cooperates with Tricon processor and all Tricon I/O modules. Widely applied in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical and power industries, this TRICONEX 4200 remote extender module is used for ESD emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection and burner management safety interlock systems with distributed I/O layout.
