TRICONEX 3101 also known as MP3101 is the main processor module adopting triple modular redundancy (TMR) architecture for Triconex Trident safety instrumented systems (SIS). This TMR safety controller module is the core computing unit of the Trident system, responsible for executing safety control logic, collecting field I/O signals and performing 2-out-of-3 voting logic to eliminate single point of failure. The Trident main processor module uses Motorola MPC860 32-bit 50MHz dual processors, SX processor for safety logic operation and IOX processor for I/O bus management. It is equipped with 6MB CRC-protected Flash PROM, 16MB DRAM and 8KB NVRAM for program storage, SOE sequence of events recording and retention of variable data. It supports multiple communication interfaces to connect engineering workstations, HMI and DCS systems, and continuously runs comprehensive hardware diagnostics on memory, bus, power supply and I/O modules. The module supports hot swap operation, maintenance personnel can replace the faulty unit online without shutting down the whole safety system. Front panel LED indicators including PASS, FAULT, ACTIVE, MODE, PROGRAM, ALARM help technicians quickly check module running state and locate faults. It meets SIL3 safety integrity level requirements and is installed in dedicated processor slot of standard Trident rack, working with Trident I/O modules. Widely applied in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical and power industries, this TRICONEX 3101 processor module performs safety interlock, ESD emergency shutdown and burner management control.
