It acts as the communication bridge between the PKS control backplane and field Modbus RTU slave devices, supporting RS232, RS422 and RS485 physical interfaces to adapt to different serial wiring requirements on site. It can access a wide variety of third-party Modbus instruments including online gas analyzers, weighing controllers, multi-function power meters, frequency converters and auxiliary RTU units, collecting process data and equipment status information from these peripheral devices and converting them into internal bus data recognized by the C300 controller. All acquired data can be displayed on the Experion operator station in real time, stored in the historical database, configured with alarm limits, and involved in closed-loop calculation, safety interlock and sequence control strategies. Each serial channel supports independent configuration of baud rate, data bits, parity check and stop bits in Control Builder software, so technicians can match communication parameters for different slave devices separately without affecting other channels.
