FOXBORO FBM205 is a redundant 4AI+4AO mixed analog I/O fieldbus module from FOXBORO Compact 200 I/A Series DCS. It provides 4 galvanically isolated 0~20.4mA analog input channels and 4 galvanically isolated 0~20.4mA analog output channels, compatible with HART smart transmitters and valve positioners. Input channels collect 4-20mA measurement signals from pressure, flow and level instruments. Output channels convert digital commands into analog current signals to regulate field control valves. Each channel uses sigma-delta ADC/DAC for high precision conversion. Different from FBM204, FBM205 does not support on-board DPIDA local PID control, but it is designed for redundant I/O pair deployment for critical process loops. The PCB is conformal coated to resist vibration, dust, humidity and electromagnetic interference in harsh industrial environments. It communicates with FCP controller over redundant 2Mbps fieldbus. Built-in continuous self-diagnosis detects loop break, short circuit and signal out-of-range faults, triggering alarms for technicians to quickly locate instrument wiring issues. FBM205 supports hot swap and is widely used for DCS maintenance, spare parts replacement and system retrofit projects.
