FOXBORO CP40A is a rack-mounted upgraded control processor for FOXBORO I/A Series DCS system, a high-performance DCS CPU module built for process automation. This processor module adopts conformal coated PCB assembly and reinforced shielding frame, protecting internal microprocessor, memory and bus circuits from vibration, dust and electromagnetic interference inside industrial control cabinets. It can be plugged directly onto the DCS rack backplane and matched with supporting backplane for fast installation and convenient maintenance. It supports 1:1 redundant pairing to avoid single point failure for critical process loops.

This FOXBORO CP40A DCS CPU module reads analog and discrete field measurement and status signals from FBM I/O modules. It executes regulatory PID control, safety interlock and sequential control algorithms, and outputs control commands to field valve positioners and switching equipment to stabilize temperature, pressure, flow and liquid level. It communicates via Nodebus and Fieldbus to exchange real-time control data with operator workstations and other modules for graphic monitoring, historical data recording and alarm management.
