Product Details
The XYCOM XVME-976 is a discontinued 6U single-height VMEbus expansion carrier module, designed as a mezzanine expansion adapter for XYCOM XVME-654, XVME-655, XVME-689 and XVME-690 series VME single board computers. This carrier cannot run independently, and it must be stacked and electrically connected with the matched host SBC to realize expansion functions. It is equipped with one PMC site complying with IEEE P1386 standard and one PC/104 site, supporting two different expansion forms at the same time to enrich the peripheral capability of the VME processor board.
The PMC site is 5V keyed and equipped with an onboard DC regulator to supply stable 3.3V power supply for PMC daughter cards, which can carry PMC modules such as high-speed Ethernet, SCSI, serial communication, analog acquisition and FPGA function cards. The PC/104 site supports both XYCOM dedicated Type A modules and standard generic Type B PC/104 modules, including multi-serial port, parallel port, network and storage expansion boards. The carrier adopts pin-and-socket connector design instead of simple edge connectors, which improves the vibration resistance and connection reliability in industrial rack environments. For XVME-655 host, an additional transition module such as XVME-978/1 or XVME-978/100 is required to realize mechanical and electrical connection, while XVME-654 can be directly installed and matched.
Users need to confirm the host CPU model, daughter card type, interrupt mapping and I/O address allocation before installation to avoid resource conflicts. The onboard EMC filter circuit suppresses signal crosstalk and electromagnetic noise generated by inverters and servo drives, ensuring stable data transmission between the host processor and expansion sub-boards. The front panel reserves lead-out channels for the I/O signals of PMC and PC/104 sub-modules, convenient for on-site wiring and debugging. The status indicators help maintenance personnel quickly judge the power supply and communication state of expansion peripherals during commissioning and routine inspection. The PCB and mechanical structure adopt industrial anti-vibration design, suitable for long-term continuous operation in power plant monitoring, chemical control systems, aerospace test benches and automated test equipment. This legacy expansion carrier is mainly supplied as spare replacement parts for existing XYCOM VME automation racks. Users need to verify the compatibility of daughter cards and host BIOS firmware before deployment. A conformal coated version is optional for high humidity, dusty and corrosive industrial sites. This model is widely used in old VME control system renovation projects to add high-speed communication, multi-channel acquisition and special customized I/O functions.
This PMC and PC104 expansion carrier adopts standard 6U single-height VME rack mount structure. It draws power from the VME backplane. LED indicators display power and expansion peripheral status for convenient on-site inspection. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 65°C, storage temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C, relative humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing. It complies with industrial shock, vibration and EMC standards and has CE certifications. It supports interrupt and address configuration backup for fast recovery after hardware replacement.
This XYCOM XVME-976 expansion carrier is widely applied in legacy VME control racks and industrial automation upgrade projects. It provides flexible PMC and PC/104 mezzanine expansion channels for matched VME single board computers to realize diversified peripheral function expansion. As a reliable discontinued spare part, the XYCOM XVME-976 retains original PCI and PC/104 bus timing compatibility, and effectively reduces the renovation cost of legacy industrial control system maintenance.
