Woodward 5437-406 is a LinkNet Field Termination Module, also called LinkNet FTM, designed for Woodward distributed turbine control systems. It serves as the physical wiring interface between field instruments and the main control unit over LinkNet communication bus, collecting and conditioning mixed analog and discrete signals in turbine governor loops.

This module receives standard 4-20mA analog signals from pressure, temperature and flow transmitters, as well as dry contact discrete signals from trip switches, limit switches and safety interlock devices. It carries built-in signal filtering and surge protection circuits to suppress electromagnetic noise from heavy industrial environments, ensuring stable signal transmission between field side and controller.

It adopts screw terminal blocks for convenient field wiring and a dedicated LinkNet bus port for digital communication with the master controller. All signal channels are isolated separately, so technicians can perform wiring inspection, signal injection and continuity testing at the terminal side without disconnecting the main control rack. This design greatly reduces the risk of accidental system trip and core board damage during maintenance work.

It supports 24VDC loop power supply for two-wire transmitters, and each channel is protected by independent fuses. On-board jumpers allow users to switch between internal loop power and external sensor power mode according to instrument configuration on site. It can automatically detect open circuit and short circuit faults on signal loops and upload fault information to the control system through LinkNet bus.

It is compatible with Woodward NetCon and other LinkNet-based control platforms. Multiple FTM modules can be distributed near field equipment to shorten instrument cable length and reduce wiring cost. It is widely used in power generation, petrochemical and gas compression projects for turbine control cabinet upgrade, system reconstruction and spare parts replacement.
