Woodward 5417-032 is a classic microprocessor-based 505 digital turbine controller for single-valve steam turbines and prime mover units without extraction or admission pressure loops. It undertakes the whole control sequence of the turbine set, including automatic startup acceleration, constant speed regulation, constant load control and safe shutdown management. The controller receives speed pulse signals from magnetic pickups, 4-20mA analog setpoint signals and discrete interlock contact signals from field switches, then outputs drive signals to hydraulic actuators to adjust steam valve opening, stabilizing turbine rotating speed and generator active power output. The front panel is equipped with a two-line 24-character LCD display and membrane keypad, supporting local parameter setup, real-time variable viewing, first-out fault record query and manual start-stop reset operation. It is equipped with abundant configurable I/O resources, including analog input channels, analog output channels, discrete inputs and discrete outputs, which can connect lubricating oil pressure switches, vibration monitors, trip relays and auxiliary safety interlock equipment. It supports RS232 and RS422 serial communication based on Modbus protocol, realizing bidirectional data exchange with DCS and SCADA systems for remote monitoring, setpoint modification and remote control command reception.
