Woodward 5415-738 is a microprocessor-based 505E digital turbine controller, configured for single extraction or admission steam turbine applications. It can realize independent closed-loop regulation of turbine shaft speed, generator load and extraction header pressure, and adopts decoupling control algorithm to reduce the interaction between speed loop and pressure loop, meeting the dual requirements of power generation and process steam supply in industrial production. The controller receives speed pulse signals from magnetic pickups, 4-20mA analog signals of extraction pressure, temperature and flow, as well as discrete trip, interlock and auxiliary contact signals from field switches. It outputs two independent actuator drive signals to control the main steam valve and extraction valve respectively, dynamically adjusting valve opening according to the deviation between actual process value and setpoint, so as to balance the power generation load and extraction steam pressure of the unit. The front panel is equipped with a two-line 24-character LCD display and membrane function keypad. Operators can configure startup acceleration ramp, idle speed, rated speed, extraction pressure setpoints and alarm thresholds, check first-out fault records, and perform local start, stop and reset operations on site. It has abundant configurable I/O resources, including multiple analog inputs, analog outputs, discrete inputs and discrete outputs, which can be connected with emergency trip systems, lubricating oil pressure switches, vibration transmitters and safety interlock relays. It supports RS232 and RS422 serial communication based on Modbus protocol, realizing two-way data exchange with DCS and SCADA systems for remote monitoring, parameter modification and remote control command reception. It integrates independent overspeed protection logic and comprehensive multi-channel hardware self-diagnosis function. It can detect speed signal loss, actuator feedback deviation, module power failure and internal hardware abnormality, trigger alarm and safe trip action according to preset protection sequence, and reduce the risk of turbine overspeed and overpressure damage. It adopts standard panel mounting structure, suitable for installation in turbine local control cabinet and central control room. It is widely used in petrochemical, chemical, paper making and cogeneration plants with single extraction steam turbines, used for new unit construction, old mechanical governor renovation and spare parts replacement. It is a mature multi-variable control solution for extraction steam turbine units.
