 The 39SCMNNNAAN is a satellite controller module originally developed by Moore and later integrated under the Siemens APACS+ and QUADLOG DCS ecosystem. It acts as a secondary distributed controller inside the rack, tasked with handling local I/O processing and intermediate control logic while communicating synchronously with the main ACMx or CCMx host processor. This distributed architecture helps reduce the computing burden of the main controller and improves the response speed of local field loops.

 It operates on a 24VDC power supply and connects to the system high-speed backplane bus for data exchange. It carries built-in diagnostic functions that continuously monitor bus communication status, internal memory health and I/O channel links. Any communication timeout or hardware fault will trigger front panel LED alarms and send fault messages to the system HMI. It cannot work independently without a matched main controller, and it is not interchangeable with standard ACMx or CCMx processor cards.

 The PCB is coated with conformal material to resist condensation and light corrosive gas in refinery and chemical control rooms. The module adopts a rack-mounted design, fitting the standard ACMx rack slot structure. It supports hot swap under certain system configuration modes, but site technicians need to evaluate the running state of the whole rack before pulling out the module online.

 Most available stock are surplus and fully tested modules recovered from retired APACS+ control racks. Before commissioning, engineers need to confirm the main controller firmware version, and complete bus communication test after installation. Mismatched firmware will lead to synchronization failure between satellite controller and host.

Industry Applications: Applied in petrochemical production units, gas compression skids, power plant auxiliary control systems and water treatment facilities for distributed local I/O and auxiliary loop processing.
