The 16249-51/6 is an MBI ISA slot M-Bus interface module originally developed by Moore under Siemens APACS+ DCS system. It is designed to be installed in the ISA slot of industrial computers, acting as the communication gateway between the host IPC and APACS+ M-Bus control network. It converts internal parallel bus signals into M-Bus protocol data, realizing two-way transmission of process values, alarm messages and control parameters between the upper monitoring station and ACMx control racks.

This module integrates protocol processing chip and signal isolation circuit, which can filter interference on the M-Bus network and avoid abnormal network signals from damaging the industrial computer mainboard. It supports fixed M-Bus communication rate defined by the suffix /6, and the suffix code determines its hardware revision and communication port configuration. It cannot be replaced directly by other 16249 series interface modules with different suffixes, and it only works with matched APACS+ M-Bus network.

The PCB board is coated with conformal coating to resist dust, condensation and light corrosive vapors in factory control rooms. The status indicators on the card edge display network transmit, receive activity and module fault information for convenient on-site inspection. It relies on the ISA bus of the industrial computer for power supply and data interaction, and it cannot run independently without a compatible IPC host.

Most stocked units are surplus and fully tested cards recovered from decommissioned APACS monitoring workstations. Before installation, technicians need to confirm the ISA resource allocation of the industrial computer and match the M-Bus network communication parameters. Wrong address setting will lead to communication failure with the control racks.
