 The 16140-1-2 is a discrete input module from the Moore ACMx series under Siemens APACS+ DCS system, designed to collect on-site binary switch signals and status feedback for the control rack. It receives dry contact or DC level signals from limit switches, relay contacts and equipment status sensors, then transmits these digital status data to the ACM or CCM host controller via the high-speed backplane bus. Each channel adopts isolation design to block surge and noise interference coming from the field side, preventing disturbance from affecting the stable operation of the whole control rack.

 It fits into the standard ACMx rack slot and can be configured in APACS+ engineering software. Built-in diagnostic logic can detect open-circuit faults of field wiring, and send fault alarm information to the system HMI for maintenance personnel to locate problems quickly. The suffix 1-2 defines its channel quantity, signal type and hardware revision. It cannot be replaced directly by ODM discrete output modules or analog I/O modules, and the version code must be matched.

 The PCB board is coated with conformal coating to resist dust, moisture and light corrosive vapors in chemical plants and refinery control rooms. The LED indicators on the front panel display channel on-off status, bus communication condition and module fault warning clearly for on-site inspection. Hot swap is supported under certain rack operation modes, but process risk assessment is required before online replacement.

 Most stocked units are surplus modules removed from decommissioned APACS+ racks and fully tested. Before installation, technicians need to confirm the signal voltage level defined by the suffix, and check the compatibility of the backplane and host controller firmware.
