Product Details:
The SEW BW012-050 braking resistor is an original grid-type dynamic braking resistor for SEW MOVIDRIVE MDX61B, MD60A and MOVITRAC B series drives. Its resistance value is 12 ohms, and the continuous braking power is 5.0kW at 100% duty cycle. It has strong overload capacity, supporting 8.5kW at 50% cdf, 15kW at 25% cdf and 22.5kW at 12% cdf, suitable for heavy-duty four-quadrant working conditions with frequent deceleration and load lowering. This base version BW012-050 does not come with built-in thermal contact switch, so users need to add an external thermal relay in the circuit to realize over-temperature protection interlock according to the safety design requirements of the equipment.
The internal structure adopts high-quality alloy resistance wire winding and high-temperature resistant inorganic insulation filler. It can maintain stable resistance value under repeated thermal shock and instantaneous high-current impact, and the resistance tolerance is controlled within ±10%. The grid metal housing adopts natural convection heat dissipation structure, which is convenient for cabinet installation and layout. It is connected to the braking chopper terminals of the matched SEW inverter, and its core function is to convert the regenerative electric energy generated by the motor during rapid deceleration, emergency stop and reverse operation into heat energy for dissipation, so as to restrain the sharp rise of the DC bus voltage of the drive and avoid overvoltage protection alarms. If the resistance winding burns open, short-circuits or the connecting cable is damaged, the drive will lose the energy dissipation channel, and the bus voltage will surge during braking, resulting in failure of fast stop function and equipment fault shutdown.
This braking resistor adopts IP20 protection grade, equipped with heavy-duty power terminals for stable high-current wiring. The working ambient temperature range is 0℃ to 55℃, and the storage temperature range is -20℃ to 70℃. The surface temperature of the resistor housing will rise sharply during continuous braking, so sufficient heat dissipation clearance must be reserved around the installation position. Cables, wire ducts and other electrical components cannot cover the heat dissipation grid to prevent heat accumulation and accelerated aging of the resistor. When matching with the drive, the minimum braking resistance limit of the internal chopper must be strictly followed to avoid damage to the IGBT braking unit caused by too low resistance.
This SEW BW012-050 braking resistor is widely used as maintenance replacement spare parts for heavy-duty material conveyors, large packaging production lines, hoisting and lifting equipment, printing and converting machines and other automation equipment that requires high-power frequent braking. Most spare parts circulating on the global industrial spare parts market are fully tested refurbished units. Before installation, technicians need to check whether the grid shell is deformed, burnt or cracked, and use a multimeter to measure the resistance value to confirm that it is within the standard tolerance range. After wiring, complete high-speed deceleration and load descending tests to verify the stability of the DC bus voltage during braking. Regular cleaning of dust and debris accumulated on the heat dissipation grid and inspection of terminal tightness can effectively reduce the risk of overheating damage and extend the service life of the braking resistor and the supporting drive system.
