Product Details:

The SEW BTS10-200-15-25-P-710 braking resistor is an external dynamic braking resistor developed for SEW MOVIDRIVE MDX61B, MD60A and MOVITRAC B series variable frequency drives and servo drives, designed to consume the regenerative electric energy generated by synchronous and asynchronous motors during rapid deceleration, emergency stop and load lowering operation. It has a resistance value of 200 ohms and a continuous power rating of 10kW. Compared with the BPS series models, this BTS version adopts a different internal winding structure and thermal design, with a lower duty cycle limit and suitable for working conditions with shorter single braking duration. The suffix -P indicates that the resistor is equipped with a built-in normally closed thermal contact switch, which can output over-temperature alarm signals to the drive’s digital input terminal for safety interlock protection, effectively avoiding permanent burnout of the resistance core under continuous heat accumulation.

This braking resistor adopts high-temperature alloy resistance wire winding technology and high-performance inorganic insulation filler inside, matched with metal casing convection heat dissipation structure. It can withstand instantaneous high-power impact during four-quadrant operation and keep the resistance value stable within the tolerance range under repeated thermal shock. It is connected to the braking chopper terminal of the SEW drive, and the drive’s built-in detection logic can identify the open circuit signal of the thermal contact and the disconnection fault of the braking circuit. If the resistor winding is burned open, short-circuited or the built-in thermal switch fails, the DC bus voltage of the drive will rise sharply during deceleration, triggering overvoltage fault alarm, and the equipment cannot complete fast stop and load descending actions normally.

This resistor adopts IP20 protection grade and cabinet-mounted installation structure, equipped with heavy-duty power terminals and signal terminals for convenient wiring with the braking unit and safety interlock circuit. The working ambient temperature range is 0℃ to 55℃, and the storage temperature range is -20℃ to 70℃. The surface temperature of the metal housing will rise rapidly during braking, so sufficient heat dissipation space must be reserved around the resistor during installation. Cables, wire ducts and other electrical components cannot cover the heat dissipation area to prevent heat accumulation and trigger false over-temperature protection.

This SEW BTS10-200-15-25-P-710 braking resistor is widely used as maintenance replacement spare parts for packaging production lines, light and medium-duty material conveyors, printing and converting equipment, small lifting machinery and other automation equipment that require intermittent frequent braking. Most spare parts circulating on the global industrial spare parts market are fully tested refurbished units. Before installation, technicians need to check whether the shell is deformed, burnt or cracked, and use a multimeter to measure the main resistance value and the continuity of the built-in thermal switch to confirm that all electrical indicators are normal. After wiring, complete the deceleration and load running test to verify the stability of the DC bus voltage and the sensitive response of the over-temperature protection signal. Regular cleaning of dust and debris on the surface of the heat dissipation shell and inspection of terminal tightness can reduce the probability of intermittent faults and extend the service life of the braking resistor and the matched drive system.
