Product Details:
The SEW BPS10-200-40-40-P-710 braking resistor is an external dynamic braking resistor developed for SEW MOVIDRIVE MDX61B, MD60A and MOVITRAC B series drives, dedicated to absorbing regenerative energy generated by asynchronous and servo motors during rapid deceleration, emergency stop and lowering operations. It has a resistance value of 200 ohms and a continuous power rating of 10kW, with higher peak power capacity to handle heavy-duty four-quadrant cyclic loads. Compared with the BPS10-200-20-40-P-710 version, this model has an adjusted thermal design and power derating curve, suitable for scenarios with longer braking duration and higher duty cycle requirements. The suffix -P means it is equipped with a built-in normally closed thermal contact switch, which outputs over-temperature alarm signal to the drive I/O terminal for safety interlock, cutting off the braking output before the resistor core suffers permanent thermal burnout.
This resistor adopts high-temperature alloy resistance wire winding structure and metal housing with natural convection cooling design. The internal inorganic insulation filler can stabilize electrical performance under repeated thermal shock, and maintain stable resistance value under long-time intermittent braking impact. It is directly matched with the braking chopper circuit of SEW inverter, and the drive’s built-in monitoring logic can detect the disconnection of the thermal contact and the open circuit of the braking circuit. If the resistor winding burns open, short-circuits or the thermal switch fails, the DC bus voltage of the drive will rise sharply during deceleration, triggering overvoltage fault alarm, and the equipment cannot realize fast stop and lifting descending functions normally.
This braking resistor adopts IP20 protection grade, designed for cabinet installation. It is equipped with heavy-duty power terminals and signal terminals for convenient wiring connection with the braking unit and peripheral safety circuit. The working ambient temperature range is 0℃ to 55℃, and the storage temperature range is -20℃ to 70℃. The surface temperature of the resistor shell will rise significantly during operation, so sufficient heat dissipation clearance must be reserved around it during installation. Cables and other electrical components cannot cover the heat dissipation area to avoid heat accumulation.
This SEW BPS10-200-40-40-P-710 braking resistor is widely used as maintenance replacement spare parts for heavy material conveyors, packaging production lines, lifting machinery, printing and converting equipment and other automation systems that require stable four-quadrant braking control. Most spare parts circulating on the global industrial spare parts market are fully tested refurbished units. Before installation, technicians need to check the shell for deformation, scorch marks and cracks, and use a multimeter to measure the main resistance value and the continuity of the built-in thermal switch to confirm that the electrical parameters are within the tolerance range. After wiring, perform deceleration and descending running tests to verify the stability of the DC bus voltage and the responsiveness of the over-temperature protection signal. Regular cleaning of dust accumulated on the heat dissipation shell and inspection of terminal tightness can effectively reduce the risk of overheating damage and extend the service life of the braking resistor and the supporting drive system.
