Product Details:

The SEW A4S200-AA02 brake resistor is an original matched dynamic braking resistor accessory specially designed for SEW-EURODRIVE MOVIDRIVE and MOVITRAC series frequency inverters and servo drives. Its core function is to convert the regenerative electric energy generated by the motor during rapid deceleration, emergency stop, lowering action and reverse operation into heat energy for dissipation, effectively suppressing the sharp rise of DC bus voltage inside the drive and avoiding overvoltage fault alarms that often occur in four-quadrant working conditions. This resistor has a rated resistance of 200 ohms, adopts high-quality alloy resistance wire winding structure and high-temperature inorganic insulation filling material inside, which can maintain stable resistance value and electrical performance under repeated short-time high-power impact load, and has excellent resistance to thermal shock.

This resistor integrates a built-in normally closed thermal contact switch, which is connected to the fault signal terminal of the frequency converter as an over-temperature protection interlock signal. When the braking cycle is too frequent, the heat accumulation exceeds the safe temperature threshold, the thermal contact will open and send a fault signal to the drive controller, and the drive will trigger protection and stop the braking output to prevent permanent burnout of the resistor core. The resistor adopts a metal casing with passive convection heat dissipation design, compact overall layout, convenient cabinet installation, and it is equipped with standard power terminals and signal terminals for quick wiring with the braking unit of the SEW drive. It is compatible with most standard SEW VFD and servo axis modules in 380–500V voltage class. If the resistor winding is burned open, short-circuited or the built-in thermal switch fails, the drive system will lose the energy dissipation channel, the overvoltage alarm will be triggered immediately during deceleration, and the equipment cannot complete fast stop and lifting descending actions normally.

This SEW A4S200-AA02 braking resistor is widely used as maintenance replacement spare parts for various automation equipment that requires frequent braking, including packaging production lines, material handling heavy conveyors, printing and converting machines, lifting hoisting equipment, and servo positioning machines. Most spare parts circulating in the global industrial spare parts market are tested stock, and some are refurbished after professional inspection. Before installation, technicians need to visually check whether the shell is deformed, burnt or cracked, and use a multimeter to measure the main resistance value and the continuity of the built-in thermal switch to confirm that the electrical parameters are within the tolerance range. After completing the wiring, it is necessary to perform no-load jog test and high-speed deceleration test to verify that the bus voltage remains stable during braking and the thermal protection signal responds normally. In daily maintenance, regularly clean the dust and debris accumulated on the surface of the resistor housing, check whether the connecting cables are aging, cracked or loose, and avoid covering the heat dissipation area of the resistor by cables or other components, which can effectively reduce the risk of overheating damage and extend the whole service life of the braking resistor and the matched drive system.
