The Schneider 140CPU43412AC conformal coated processor module is a high-reliability core control unit for Modicon Quantum PLC automation systems deployed in humid, dusty and corrosive industrial environments. This modicon quantum cpu module adopts 80486 processor running at 66MHz clock frequency and integrates built-in floating-point coprocessor to handle complex floating-point calculation and PID closed-loop regulation. The PCB circuit board is treated with conformal coating, which effectively protects internal electronic components against moisture, dust and corrosive gas, maintaining stable long-term operation in chemical plants, offshore platforms and other harsh plant sites. It is equipped with 896kB battery-backed RAM for program and data storage, supporting LL984 ladder logic and IEC61131-3 standard programming languages. The scan time for 1K boolean LL984 instructions ranges from 0.1ms to 0.5ms, delivering fast logic execution for heavy process automation tasks. This A version CPU supports firmware upgrade from Concept to Unity Pro if the module PV version is 04 or higher, expanding programming options for site reconstruction projects. It integrates two RS232 Modbus serial ports and one Modbus Plus communication port, supporting data exchange with local I/O modules, S908 remote I/O stations, distributed I/O, HMI touch screens and other field automation equipment. It can support up to 64 local I/O words, 64 remote I/O words and 30/32 distributed I/O words, supporting up to 31 remote drops and 63 distributed drops on Modbus Plus network. A fixed 250ms hardware watchdog timer is configured to detect abnormal program execution and trigger safety protection actions automatically. The onboard lithium battery retains RAM data and real-time clock information, with clock drift of ±8 seconds per day within 0~60℃ operating temperature range. The lithium battery service life can reach up to 10 years. Programming can be completed via ProWORX 32 or Concept software platform, and upgraded units can use Unity Pro software. It can be directly plugged into Quantum backplane rack and cooperate with full series of Quantum power supply, I/O and communication modules to build complete distributed control systems. This original Schneider product was discontinued on May 31,2015 and end-of-service on Dec 31,2025, widely stocked as spare replacement parts for maintenance and upgrade of legacy industrial automation systems. It is widely used in power, petrochemical, natural gas pipeline, metallurgy, water treatment and manufacturing plants as the core controller for large Modicon Quantum automation racks requiring high-speed floating-point and PID process control under harsh industrial environments.
