The Schneider 140CPU42402 processor module is a high-performance core control unit of Modicon Quantum PLC automation platform, designed for large-scale industrial process control applications requiring floating-point calculation and PID closed-loop regulation. This modicon quantum cpu module adopts 80486 processor running at 66MHz clock frequency and integrates built-in floating-point coprocessor to accelerate complex mathematical operations and process control algorithms. It is equipped with 2MB battery-backed RAM, supporting LL984 ladder logic and IEC61131-3 standard programming languages. The scan time for 1K boolean LL984 instructions ranges from 0.1ms to 0.5ms, delivering fast logic execution for heavy automation tasks. This CPU module integrates two RS232 Modbus serial ports and one Modbus Plus communication port, supporting data exchange with local I/O modules, S908 remote I/O stations, distributed I/O, HMI touch screens and other field automation equipment. It can support up to 64 local I/O words, 64 remote I/O words and 30/32 distributed I/O words, supporting up to 31 remote drops and 63 distributed drops on Modbus Plus network. A fixed 250ms hardware watchdog timer is configured to detect abnormal program execution and trigger safety protection actions automatically. The onboard lithium battery retains RAM data and real-time clock information, and the clock drift is ±8 seconds per day within 0~60℃ operating temperature range. Programming can be completed via ProWORX 32 or Concept software platform. It can be directly plugged into Quantum backplane rack and cooperate with full series of Quantum power supply, I/O and communication modules to build complete distributed control systems. This original Schneider product has been discontinued, widely stocked as spare replacement parts for maintenance and upgrade of legacy industrial automation systems. It is widely used in power, petrochemical, natural gas pipeline, metallurgy, water treatment and manufacturing plants as the core controller for large Modicon Quantum automation racks requiring high-speed floating-point and PID process control.
