The Schneider 140CPU21304 processor module is a high-performance core CPU unit of Modicon Quantum PLC system, designed for medium and large industrial process control applications that require floating-point calculation and PID regulation. This modicon quantum cpu module adopts 20MHz processor integrated with a floating-point coprocessor, equipped with 768kB battery-backed RAM and supports PCMCIA memory card for program and data storage expansion. It supports LL984 ladder logic and IEC61131-3 standard programming languages, the scan time for 1K boolean LL984 instructions ranges from 0.3ms to 1.4ms, and the built-in math coprocessor greatly accelerates floating-point operation and PID closed-loop control. This CPU module integrates two communication ports: one RS232 Modbus serial port and one Modbus Plus port, supporting data exchange with local I/O modules, remote distributed I/O, HMI touch screens and other field automation devices. It can support up to 64 local I/O words, 64 remote I/O words and 30/32 distributed I/O words, supporting up to 31 remote drops and 63 distributed drops. A fixed 250ms hardware watchdog timer is configured to detect abnormal program execution and trigger safety protection automatically. The onboard lithium battery retains RAM data and real-time clock information, with clock drift of ±8 seconds per day within 0~60℃ operating temperature range. Programming can be completed via Concept software platform. It can be directly plugged into Quantum backplane rack and cooperate with full series of Quantum power supply, I/O and communication modules to build complete distributed control systems. This original Schneider product was discontinued, widely stocked as spare replacement parts for maintenance and upgrade of legacy industrial automation systems. It is widely used in power, petrochemical, natural gas pipeline, metallurgy, water treatment and manufacturing plants as the core controller for Modicon Quantum automation racks requiring complex floating-point and PID control.
