The Schneider 140CPU11303C conformal coated processor module is the core control unit of Modicon Quantum PLC automation systems designed for humid, dusty and corrosive industrial environments. This modicon quantum cpu module adopts 80186 processor running at 20MHz clock frequency and is equipped with 368kB battery-backed internal RAM without built-in floating-point coprocessor. The PCB circuit board is protected by conformal coating, which can effectively shield internal electronic components from moisture, dust and corrosive gas, ensuring stable long-term operation in harsh plant sites such as chemical plants and offshore platforms. It supports LL984 ladder logic and IEC61131-3 programming languages. The scan time for 1K boolean LL984 instructions ranges from 0.3ms to 1.4ms. This CPU module integrates one RS232 Modbus serial port and one Modbus Plus communication port, supporting data exchange with local I/O modules, remote distributed I/O, HMI touch screens and other field automation equipment. It can support up to 64 local I/O words, 64 remote I/O words and 30/32 distributed I/O words, supporting up to 31 remote drops and 63 distributed drops. A fixed 250ms hardware watchdog timer is configured to detect abnormal program execution and trigger safety protection actions automatically. The onboard lithium battery can retain RAM data and real-time clock information, and the clock drift is ±8 seconds per day within 0~60℃ operating temperature range. Programming can be completed via ProWORX 32 or Concept software platform. It can be directly plugged into Quantum backplane rack and matched with full series of Quantum power supply, I/O and communication modules to build complete distributed control systems. This original Schneider product was discontinued on May 31,2015 and end-of-service on Dec 31,2025, widely stocked as spare replacement parts for maintenance and upgrade of legacy industrial automation systems. It is widely used in power, petrochemical, metallurgy, water treatment and manufacturing plants as the core controller for medium and large Modicon Quantum automation racks operating in harsh industrial environments.
