Product Details
The NI PCI-5402 is a high-precision DDS function generator card for PCI bus industrial computers, designed for stable standard signal generation and stimulus-response measurement. It is equipped with one analog output channel and 14-bit DAC resolution, supporting sine and square waves up to 20 MHz, while triangle and ramp waveforms reach up to 1 MHz. It provides ultra-fine frequency resolution of 0.355 μHz, which supports slow and precise frequency sweeping for component characterization. The onboard memory is 32 kB, and it can generate DC signals and pseudorandom noise besides common periodic waveforms.
This card supports software-selectable output impedance of 50 Ω or 75 Ω to match different test loads. It has adjustable phase from -180° to +180°, convenient for multi-card phase alignment. Users can turn on FIR digital interpolation filter with 2x or 4x factor, and a 7-pole elliptical analog reconstruction filter is optional to smooth output signals and reduce imaging noise. It supports external reference clock locking through REF IN BNC port, and the RTSI bus allows synchronization with other NI measurement boards such as digitizers and DSA cards to build integrated test systems. Multiple trigger modes are available, including software trigger, external trigger and burst trigger. Its front panel carries BNC connectors for waveform output, reference clock input and sync signal, plus PFI lines for digital trigger routing. The standard PCI form factor fits industrial PC chassis and supports waveform summing when multiple generators are connected together.
This function generator card is widely applied in filter frequency response calibration, sensor excitation testing, circuit component validation, audio component performance testing, educational laboratory signal simulation and electronic product immunity testing. It is driven by NI-FGEN driver, compatible with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI and C/C++ programming environments, supporting frequency list sweep, amplitude adjustment and marker event configuration. As a legacy signal generation hardware, the PCI-5402 is mainly used for maintenance and upgrade of existing automated test benches. It maintains stable repeatable output during long unattended testing, preserves mature test sequences and avoids high cost of rebuilding the whole measurement system. Its operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C, supporting reliable continuous operation for laboratory and light industrial test tasks.
