Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME5100 belongs to MVME5100 series 6U single-slot VME64 embedded single board computer, built on Motorola PowerPlus II architecture with Hawk PCI-VME bridge ASIC, equipped with optional MPC7410 PowerPC processor supporting AltiVec vector extension or MPC750 processor, operating at 400MHz to 450MHz, 100MHz front side bus, integrated 32KB L1 instruction cache, 32KB L1 data cache and up to 2MB backside L2 cache. This variant is configured with 32MB to 512MB soldered ECC SDRAM, expandable up to 1GB via RAM500 memory mezzanine, 16MB surface mount flash memory plus socketed boot ROM, 8KB battery-backed NVRAM integrated with real-time clock, dual 16550-compatible EIA-232-D serial ports, dual 10/100Base-TX fast Ethernet RJ45 interfaces, the second Ethernet can be routed to P2 backplane. It supports two 32/64-bit PMC mezzanine expansion slots with front panel and P2 backplane I/O routing. It complies with VME64 specification, supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32/D64 BLT block DMA transfer, can act as VME system controller, integrates multi-processor interrupt controller, programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in PPCBug firmware monitor supports serial console debugging, self-test diagnostics, flash boot and network boot configuration. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage industrial and test automation systems.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and implements high-bandwidth data exchange between VME64 backplane and local PCI bus through Hawk bridge chip. The MPC7410 variant with AltiVec unit delivers outstanding vector computing capability for signal processing, imaging and complex algorithm tasks, while MPC750 version offers stable low-power real-time performance for motion control and data acquisition. It provides dual serial channels for console debugging and peripheral connection, dual fast Ethernet ports for network communication and dual PMC slots for custom I/O, storage or communication mezzanine modules. Users can match it with other VMEbus I/O and acquisition modules to build flexible embedded control systems. Optimized PCB layout suppresses electromagnetic interference, and it maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks, Linux and other classic real-time operating systems for PowerPC platform.
It adopts standard single-high 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connector, dual RJ45 Ethernet ports, reset/abort switch and status LED indicators. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in semiconductor test equipment, aerospace equipment, industrial control subsystems and long-cycle industrial data logging racks requiring vector signal processing, ECC memory protection, high-speed PowerPC CPU, expandable SDRAM, dual fast Ethernet and dual PMC expansion capability. Typical application scenarios include VME64 rack main CPU replacement, high-performance signal acquisition system maintenance and legacy automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME5100 for its MPC7410/MPC750 PowerPC,32MB~512MB ECC SDRAM configuration, serial ports, dual 10/100 Ethernet, dual PMC slots.
