Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME2604-712 belongs to MVME2600 series 6U single-slot VMEbus embedded single board computer, adopting Raven PCI-VME bridge chipset, equipped with PowerPC 604 200MHz 32-bit superscalar processor, integrated L1 cache and optional 256KB L2 cache. This variant is configured with 64MB ECC DRAM, expandable up to 512MB via memory mezzanine modules, 8MB on-board flash memory for firmware and user storage, 8KB battery-backed NVRAM integrated with real-time clock, three EIA-232-D serial ports, dual 10/100Base-TX fast Ethernet RJ45 interfaces and fast SCSI-2 storage controller. It supports one 32/64-bit PMC mezzanine expansion slot with P2 backplane I/O routing. It complies with VMEbus specification, supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 BLT block DMA transfer, can act as VME system controller, integrates multiple programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in firmware monitor supports serial console debugging, self-test diagnostics, flash boot and network boot configuration. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage industrial and test automation systems.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and realizes high-speed data exchange between VME backplane and local PCI peripheral bus through the Raven bridge. The PowerPC 604 superscalar core delivers strong real-time computing performance for motion control, high-speed data acquisition and multi-task protocol processing tasks. It provides multiple serial channels for console setup and peripheral communication, SCSI interface for legacy storage connection and dual fast Ethernet ports for network communication. Users can install custom I/O, communication or storage modules on the PMC slot to build flexible embedded control systems. Optimized PCB layout suppresses electromagnetic interference, and it maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks, Linux and other classic real-time operating systems for PowerPC platform.
It adopts standard single-high 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors, dual RJ45 Ethernet ports, SCSI port and status LED indicators. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in semiconductor test equipment, industrial control subsystems and long-cycle industrial data logging racks requiring PowerPC superscalar computing, ECC memory protection, 200MHz CPU, expandable DRAM, SCSI storage, dual Ethernet and PMC expansion capability. Typical application scenarios include VME rack main CPU replacement, modular multi-channel data acquisition system maintenance and legacy automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME2604-712 for its PowerPC 604 200MHz,64MB ECC DRAM configuration, serial ports,SCSI,dual Ethernet,PMC slot.
