Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME197SP belongs to MVME197 series 6U double-high VMEbus embedded single board computer, single processor version equipped with one MC88110 50MHz superscalar RISC processor, paired with MC88410 cache controller providing 256KB secondary cache. This variant is configured with 128MB or 256MB ECC DRAM, 4MB on-board flash memory, 8KB battery-backed SRAM integrated with real-time clock, four EIA-232-D serial ports, AUI 10Mbps Ethernet interface and fast SCSI controller, also equipped with Centronics compatible parallel printer port. It supports VMEbus A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32/D64 block DMA transfer, can act as VME system controller, integrates 256KB boot ROM socket, six 32-bit programmable tick timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in firmware monitor supports serial console debugging, flash boot and network boot setup. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage industrial and test automation systems.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and delivers stable high-speed data transmission over the VME backplane. The MC88110 RISC architecture supports superscalar execution to handle complex real-time computing and control tasks. It provides four EIA-232D serial channels for console setup and peripheral communication, SCSI interface for connecting legacy storage devices and AUI Ethernet port for host communication. Users can combine it with other VMEbus I/O and acquisition modules to construct reliable embedded control systems. Optimized PCB layout suppresses electromagnetic interference, and it maintains good compatibility with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems for MC88K platform.
It adopts standard double-high 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors, AUI Ethernet port, SCSI port, parallel port, reset and abort switches and status LED indicators. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in semiconductor test equipment, industrial control subsystems and long-cycle industrial data logging racks requiring single-processor RISC high-speed calculation, ECC memory protection, 50MHz CPU, large-capacity DRAM, SCSI storage, Ethernet communication and parallel port expansion. Typical application scenarios include VME rack main CPU replacement, high-performance single-core data acquisition system maintenance and legacy automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME197SP for its MC88110 50MHz,128/256MB ECC DRAM configuration, serial ports,SCSI,Ethernet, parallel port.
