Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME188A belongs to MVME188A series 6U double-high VMEbus embedded single board computer, adopting hyper-module mezzanine expansion architecture, equipped with up to four MC88100 25MHz 32-bit RISC processors, matched with MC88200 or MC88204 cache and MMU ASIC. This variant is configured with 16MB base DRAM, expandable to 64MB via SIMM modules, 512KB EPROM for firmware storage, 128KB battery-backed SRAM and 2KB non-volatile NVRAM with real-time clock, two EIA-232-D serial ports, Centronics compatible parallel printer port and SCSI-1 storage interface. It supports VMEbus Rev B/C specification, A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 DMA transmission, can serve as VME system controller, integrates programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in debug monitor supports serial console debugging and multi-processor boot configuration. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage industrial and test automation systems.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports stable multi-processor parallel computing on VME backplane. It adopts modular hyper-module design, users can freely configure 1 to 4 CPU cores according to computing requirements. It provides dual EIA-232D serial channels for console and peripheral connection, SCSI interface for external storage access and parallel port for printer connection. Users can match it with other VMEbus I/O and acquisition modules to build a high-performance parallel embedded control system. Optimized PCB layout reduces electromagnetic noise interference, it maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems supporting MC88K architecture.
It adopts standard double-high 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors, SCSI port, parallel port and status LED indicators. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in semiconductor test equipment, industrial control subsystems and long-cycle industrial data logging racks requiring multi-processor parallel operation, 25MHz RISC CPU, expandable DRAM, SCSI storage and parallel port expansion. Typical application scenarios include VME rack main CPU replacement, multi-task high-speed data acquisition system maintenance and legacy automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME188A for its MC88100 25MHz multi-processor configuration, serial ports,SCSI,parallel port.
