Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME162P-252SE belongs to MVME162P2 series 6U VMEbus embedded controller, equipped with MC68040 25MHz 32-bit processor, 8KB on-chip cache, integrated FPU and MMU. This variant is configured with 16MB parity SDRAM, 128KB battery-backed SRAM, four EIA-232-D serial ports, onboard narrow SCSI controller, paired with two IndustryPack expansion slots, no onboard Ethernet interface. It integrates 1MB flash memory for firmware storage, MK48T08 NVRAM and real-time clock, programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging, memory verification and SCSI boot configuration. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It adopts Petra I ASIC design to support VMEbus D64 burst transfer and DMA function for high throughput on VME backplane. It carries integrated MC68040 floating-point unit to handle motion control and complex numerical calculation tasks. It is equipped with SCSI interface for local mass storage to log batches of process data. Users can install two IndustryPack mezzanine modules to expand analog, digital and special signal acquisition interfaces according to project requirements. Optimized multi-layer PCB routing suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.
It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors, SCSI port and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes IndustryPack signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in semiconductor test subsystems and industrial process logging racks requiring floating-point operation, parity memory protection and SCSI local storage, without onboard Ethernet interface. Typical application scenarios include VME rack main CPU replacement, offline high-precision data acquisition system maintenance and automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162P-252SE for its MC68040 25MHz,16MB parity SDRAM configuration, serial ports, SCSI and two IndustryPack slots.
