Product Details:

MOTOROLA MVME162-532 belongs to MVME162FX 500 series 6U VMEbus single board computer, equipped with MC68040 32MHz 32-bit processor with integrated hardware FPU and 8KB on-chip cache and MMU. This variant is configured with 16MB parity DRAM, 512KB battery-backed SRAM, dual configurable EIA-232-D/EIA-530 serial ports, one Centronics parallel port and four IndustryPack expansion slots, it does not integrate SCSI controller and Ethernet transceiver. It integrates 1MB flash memory for firmware storage, battery-backed real-time clock, programmable tick timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging and boot parameter setup. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.

This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It adopts 16MB parity memory buffer and four IndustryPack mezzanine slots, supporting flexible multi-channel analog and digital I/O expansion. It provides configurable serial interfaces and Centronics parallel port to connect legacy printers and serial field instruments. Users can install different mezzanine modules to build custom multi-channel acquisition subsystems according to project requirements. Optimized multi-layer PCB routing suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.

It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors, parallel port and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.

It is widely deployed in legacy test stations and motion control subsystems requiring floating-point operation, serial communication and parallel output, without SCSI storage and Ethernet requirements. Typical application scenarios include VME rack main CPU replacement, old parallel I/O equipment maintenance and automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-532 for its MC68040 FPU, 32MHz 16MB parity DRAM configuration, configurable serial ports, Centronics port and four IndustryPack slots, no SCSI and Ethernet.
