Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME162-453 belongs to MVME162FX series 6U VMEbus single board computer, equipped with MC68LC040 32MHz 32-bit processor with 8KB on-chip cache and MMU, without integrated hardware FPU. This variant is configured with 32MB parity DRAM, 512KB battery-backed SRAM, four EIA-232-D serial ports, onboard narrow SCSI controller and 10Mbps Ethernet transceiver, paired with four IndustryPack expansion slots. It integrates 2MB flash memory for firmware storage, battery-backed real-time clock, programmable tick timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging, memory verification, SCSI boot and network boot configuration. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It is equipped with the maximum 32MB parity memory configuration in the MVME162FX 400 series, providing sufficient memory buffer for complex multi-channel data collection tasks. It combines large-capacity parity memory, SCSI local storage and Ethernet communication, which can store massive process data files and upload real-time operating information to the upper host system simultaneously. Users can install up to four IndustryPack mezzanine modules to expand analog, digital and special signal interfaces according to different project requirements. Optimized multi-layer PCB routing suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.
It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes Ethernet, SCSI and mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in complex semiconductor test racks and long-cycle process control subsystems requiring maximum parity memory, storage and network transmission. Typical application scenarios include VME rack auxiliary CPU replacement, high-volume continuous data acquisition system maintenance and large-scale automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-453 for its MC68LC040, 32MHz 32MB parity DRAM configuration, four EIA-232-D serial ports, SCSI, Ethernet and four IndustryPack slots.
