Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME162-412 belongs to MVME162FX series 6U VMEbus single board computer, equipped with MC68LC040 32MHz 32-bit processor, 8KB on-chip cache and MMU, without integrated hardware FPU. This variant is configured with 8MB parity DRAM, 512KB battery-backed SRAM, four EIA-232-D serial ports, one Centronics parallel port, onboard 10Mbps Ethernet transceiver and four IndustryPack expansion slots, it does not integrate SCSI controller. It integrates 2MB flash memory for firmware storage, battery-backed real-time clock, programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging, network boot and boot parameter setup. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It carries Centronics parallel port for connection to legacy print peripherals, multi-channel serial interfaces for field instruments and Ethernet for upper network transmission. Users can install up to four IndustryPack mezzanine modules to expand analog and digital signal channels according to project needs. Optimized multi-layer PCB routing suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.
It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel provides serial connectors, parallel port and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes Ethernet and mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration specifications for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in legacy test stations and auxiliary control subsystems requiring parallel output, multi-serial links and Ethernet upload. Typical application scenarios include VME rack auxiliary CPU replacement, multi-interface legacy equipment maintenance and automation platform retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-412 for its MC68LC040, 32MHz 8MB parity DRAM configuration, four EIA-232-D serial ports, Centronics port, Ethernet and four IndustryPack slots, no SCSI.
