Product Details:

MOTOROLA MVME162-322 belongs to MVME162LX 300 series 6U VMEbus single board computer, equipped with MC68040 32MHz 32-bit processor with integrated hardware FPU and 8KB on-chip cache. This variant is configured with 8MB parity DRAM, 128KB battery-backed SRAM, dual configurable EIA-232-D/EIA-530 serial ports, one Centronics parallel port, onboard 10Mbps Ethernet transceiver and dual IndustryPack expansion slots, it does not integrate SCSI controller. It integrates 1MB flash memory for firmware storage, battery-backed real-time clock, programmable tick timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging, memory verification, network boot and boot parameter setup. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.

This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It combines configurable serial links, Centronics parallel output and Ethernet networking, which can connect serial field instruments, legacy print devices and upper management network at the same time. Users can install IndustryPack mezzanine modules to add analog or digital signal acquisition channels for different industrial control projects. Optimized PCB trace layout suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It runs stably with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.

It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel carries serial connectors, parallel port and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes Ethernet and mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration criteria for cabinet mounting.

It is widely deployed in legacy factory monitoring stations and test systems that need floating-point calculation, parallel output and network upload. Typical application scenarios include VME rack CPU replacement, multi-interface legacy automation system maintenance and test bench retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-322 for its MC68040 FPU, 32MHz 8MB parity DRAM configuration, Centronics port, configurable serial ports, Ethernet and dual IndustryPack slots, no SCSI.
