Product Details:

MOTOROLA MVME162-263 belongs to MVME162LX series 6U VMEbus single board computer, equipped with MC68040 25MHz 32-bit processor with integrated hardware FPU and 8KB on-chip cache. This variant is configured with 4MB parity DRAM, 128KB battery-backed SRAM, dual configurable EIA-232-D/EIA-530 serial ports, one Centronics parallel port, onboard narrow SCSI controller and 10Mbps Ethernet transceiver, paired with dual IndustryPack expansion slots. It integrates 1MB flash memory for firmware storage, battery-backed real-time clock, programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The built-in MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging, memory verification and boot parameter setup. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, available stock are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.

This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It integrates configurable serial channels, Centronics parallel port, SCSI local storage and Ethernet networking on one single board, which supports parallel peripheral output, local data logging and remote host communication at the same time. Users can install IndustryPack mezzanine modules to expand analog or digital signal channels according to project requirements. Optimized PCB trace layout suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It runs stably with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.

It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel carries serial connectors, parallel port and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes Ethernet, SCSI and mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration criteria for cabinet mounting.

It is widely deployed in legacy test stations and process control subsystems requiring complete multi-interface function. Typical application scenarios include VME rack CPU replacement, multi-function legacy automation system maintenance and old test bench retrofit. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-263 for its MC68040 FPU, 25MHz 4MB parity DRAM configuration, Centronics port, configurable serial ports, SCSI, Ethernet and dual IndustryPack slots.
