Product Details:
MOTOROLA MVME162-222 is part of the MVME162LX 6U VMEbus single board computer lineup, built with MC68040 25MHz 32-bit processor with integrated FPU and 8KB on-chip cache. This variant is configured with 8MB parity DRAM, 128KB battery-backed SRAM, dual configurable EIA-232-D/EIA-530 serial ports, one Centronics parallel port, onboard 10Mbps Ethernet transceiver and dual IndustryPack expansion slots, without SCSI controller. It integrates 1MB flash memory for firmware storage, non-volatile real-time clock, programmable timers and hardware watchdog circuit. The onboard MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debugging, memory verification and boot parameter setup. This legacy embedded board has been discontinued, stocked units are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.
This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing modes and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt management. It retains parallel peripheral connection capability and flexible serial signal selection, together with Ethernet networking for remote data transmission. Users can fit IndustryPack mezzanine modules to expand analog or digital acquisition channels according to project requirements. Optimized PCB trace layout suppresses electromagnetic noise interference from servo drives and heavy industrial cabinet environments. It runs stably with VxWorks and other classic real-time operating systems.
It adopts standard 6U eurocard mechanical specification and draws +5V, ±12V power supply from the VME backplane. Front panel carries serial connectors, parallel port and status LED indicators, and the P2 rear connector routes Ethernet and mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap operation is not supported; power supply must be shut down before installation or removal. The PCB and soldering assembly meet industrial shock and vibration criteria for cabinet mounting.
It is widely deployed in legacy test stations and process control systems that need parallel print output and remote network upload. Typical application scenarios include VME rack CPU replacement, multi-interface legacy equipment maintenance and automation platform upgrade. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-222 for its MC68040 FPU, 25MHz 8MB parity DRAM configuration, Centronics port, configurable serial ports, Ethernet and dual IndustryPack slots, no SCSI.
