Product Details:

MOTOROLA MVME162-212 is a member of MVME162LX 6U VMEbus single board computer family, built around MC68LC040 25MHz 32-bit processor with 8KB cache and MMU, without built-in FPU. This configuration carries 4MB parity DRAM, 128KB battery-backed SRAM, four EIA-232-D serial ports, onboard 10Mbps Ethernet transceiver and dual IndustryPack expansion slots, and it does not include SCSI controller. It integrates 1MB flash memory for firmware storage, battery-backed real-time clock, programmable timers and hardware watchdog. The onboard MVME162Bug monitor supports serial console debug, memory testing and boot configuration. This legacy embedded board is end-of-life, stocked units are refurbished replacement spares for vintage VME automation racks.

This SBC can act as VMEbus master or slave and supports A16/A24/A32 addressing and D8/D16/D32 data transfer with interrupt handling. It focuses on network communication and multi-channel serial connection, suitable for equipment that sends collected field data to upper host over Ethernet. Users can install IndustryPack mezzanine modules to add custom signal acquisition channels. Carefully routed PCB layout suppresses electromagnetic interference from servo drives and harsh factory environments. It maintains stable compatibility with VxWorks and other mature real-time operating systems.

It uses standard 6U eurocard form factor and receives +5V, ±12V power from VME backplane. Front panel is equipped with serial connectors and status LED indicators, and P2 rear connector routes Ethernet and mezzanine signals to transition boards. Hot swap is not supported, power supply must be cut off before installing or removing the board. The board assembly meets industrial shock and vibration standards for cabinet mounting.

It is widely deployed in remote data collection stations and factory monitoring subsystems that rely on Ethernet for data upload. Typical application scenarios include VME rack auxiliary CPU replacement, serial sensor network maintenance and legacy test bench repair. Automation integrators select this Motorola MVME162-212 for its MC68LC040, 25MHz 4MB parity DRAM configuration, four EIA-232-D serial ports, Ethernet and dual IndustryPack slots, no SCSI.
