MODICON PC-0984-780 is a medium-sized rack-mounted programmable controller of the classic Modicon 984 family, originally released under AEG Modicon. It serves as the core CPU unit for modular automation racks, equipped with 16K words user logic memory and supporting up to 9999 registers for process data storage. This controller executes 984 ladder logic to handle discrete interlock, analog closed-loop regulation, arithmetic operation and sequential control. It carries built-in Modbus serial communication ports for connection with programming terminals, HMI panels and SCADA host, and supports S908 remote I/O bus expansion to build distributed I/O architecture with multiple remote drops. It can manage one local drop with up to 32 I/O modules and maximum 1024 local discrete I/O points. The front panel is fitted with LED indicators and operation switches to display run status, communication activity and hardware faults for fast on-site diagnosis. It integrates an onboard power supply that delivers power for the CPU and local rack I/O modules. A backup battery protects user logic and register data during power loss, and Modsoft is adopted as the supporting programming software.
