MODICON AS-P892-000, also named P892, is an integrated remote I/O processor with built-in power supply, dedicated for Modicon 984 legacy automation platform. It combines S908 coaxial remote I/O bus interface and single channel ASCII serial port, functioning as a distributed I/O substation controller to poll field remote racks and exchange data with the main CPU. It receives output commands from the host processor, uploads discrete and analog field signals, and supports connection of serial peripherals such as operator terminals and data loggers through the ASCII channel. This unit accepts 120/220 Vac input power and supplies internal operating power for itself and matched local I/O, with current rating of 0.25 / 0.5 A. It adopts standard rack mounting for Modicon backplane, equipped with a full set of LED indicators for power ready, communication active, comm error and diagnostic alarm, supporting fast on-site troubleshooting. Industrial EMC suppression circuits protect internal bus and serial lines against heavy electromagnetic interference in plant environments. As an obsolete original spare part, it is widely used for maintenance and retrofit of aging Modicon distributed control systems. Direct drop-in replacement keeps the existing S908 coaxial cabling, serial wiring and remote node layout unchanged, avoiding reconstruction of the whole remote I/O network and cutting production downtime.
