Product Details:
MODICON AS-J892-001, also known as J892, is an ASCII remote I/O interface and remote I/O controller for the classic Modicon 984 and 800 automation platforms, originally produced by Gould Modicon. It acts as a dedicated communication gateway that bridges the main processor, remote I/O racks and external ASCII devices, managing S908 RIO network traffic and asynchronous serial data transmission simultaneously. This unit comes equipped with two independent 25-pin D-SUB ASCII ports for connection to printers, operator terminals and other serial intelligent peripherals, while the built-in RIO interface handles polling of distributed remote I/O nodes over coaxial cable. It continuously forwards input status from field I/O back to the host CPU and distributes output commands to remote racks, with onboard LED indicators to show ready status, communication activity and fault alarms for quick field diagnosis. Built with industrial-grade circuitry and integrated surge and noise suppression, it maintains stable data transmission in factory environments with heavy electromagnetic interference. As an obsolete original spare part, it is reserved for maintenance and retrofitting of legacy Modicon distributed control systems. Direct drop-in replacement keeps the existing coaxial RIO wiring, serial peripheral layout and rack configuration unchanged, eliminating redesign of the remote I/O network and cutting production downtime.
