MODICON AS-B809-016 is a 16-point discrete AC input module belonging to the classic Modicon 800 series I/O family, originally released by Gould Modicon. It captures on-off status signals from field limit switches, auxiliary contacts and other AC field devices and transmits digital status back to the host PLC CPU over the backplane bus. The channels are split into two independent banks of eight points each, designed for 230 Vac field signals with wide operating voltage tolerance. Every channel integrates RC filtering and transient surge suppression circuits to suppress electrical noise and avoid false triggering caused by field interference. This module uses standard rack mounting and plugs directly into the Modicon 800 I/O backplane. Each input channel has its own LED indicator to show the present signal state at a glance. As an obsolete original spare part, it is used for maintenance and retrofitting of legacy Modicon distributed automation systems. Direct drop-in replacement keeps existing field cabling, terminal layout and rack configuration unchanged, reducing site modification work and shortening production downtime.
