MODICON AS-884A-201 is the CPU programmable controller for the classic Modicon 884 platform, equipped with 3.5K program memory and native Modbus communication port, and compatible with remote I/O expansion. As the core control unit of the whole rack, it executes ladder logic programs, scans local and remote I/O nodes, processes interlock logic and transmits real-time data to HMI and upper monitoring devices. It carries a memory protection switch to prevent accidental modification of valid control programs during site operation. This controller adopts standard rack mounting and can cooperate with matched power supply and I/O modules to build a complete medium-sized automation control system. Industrial-grade circuit design with built-in surge suppression and EMC filtering ensures stable continuous operation under electromagnetic interference in factory workshops. It uses lithium backup battery to retain user program and variable data after power failure. As an obsolete original spare part, it is mainly used for maintenance and retrofit of aging Modicon 884 control systems. Direct replacement retains the original control program, backplane layout and communication wiring, avoids large-scale system transformation and reduces production downtime.
