FANUC A03B-0823-C003, also known as Terminal Type I/O Expansion Module B, is a compact slice-style I/O unit designed for FANUC 0i-D, 0i-F and 30i-B CNC systems, adopting FANUC I/O Link communication bus. It integrates 24 points of 24V DC digital input and 16 points of 24V DC digital output in one single terminal block module, which is a highly integrated distributed I/O solution that saves electrical cabinet space and simplifies wiring layout for machine tool builders. Unlike the separated ABU backplane and plug-in card structure of the older 16i-B series I/O racks, this unit combines terminal base, signal circuit and bus interface into one compact housing, supporting direct installation inside the cabinet without matching additional backplane racks.

The input channels adopt sink type 24V DC signal reception, equipped with built-in signal filtering and reverse connection protection, which suppress contact bounce of mechanical switches and avoid circuit damage caused by wiring errors. The output channels are transistor source type output, each channel with independent overcurrent protection and surge absorption circuit, suitable for driving small relays, solenoid valves and indicator lights. Each signal point is matched with independent LED status indicator on the front panel, clearly showing ON/OFF state of DI and DO signals. Maintenance technicians can quickly check signal feedback and output action status on site, efficiently troubleshoot open circuit, short circuit and loose terminal faults without opening the CNC diagnosis screen. The module uses integrated screw terminal arrangement, and the terminals are arranged reasonably for convenient wiring, inspection and later circuit modification.

This slice I/O module is built with industrial reinforced housing, featuring excellent vibration resistance, dust resistance and oil mist tolerance, adapting to harsh workshop environments with cutting fluid mist and fine metal powder. It communicates with the CNC main controller through FANUC I/O Link bus, supporting flexible distributed arrangement, users can place multiple such I/O units near actuators and sensors to shorten field signal cables and reduce electromagnetic interference. Users can assign PMC addresses for each input and output point through CNC system parameters according to machine design requirements. The input points are widely used to collect limit switch signals, tool detection signals, safety door interlock, proximity switch feedback and button signals; the output points are used to control tool change solenoid valves, lubrication pumps, coolant valves, alarm lights and fixture clamping actions, realizing sequential auxiliary logic control in PMC ladder programs.

It is a direct replacement spare part for original integrated I/O units with channel failure, signal loss, communication drop-out and indicator damage on CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, tapping machines and special automated machine tools equipped with new generation FANUC CNC systems.
