Product Details
FANUC A03B-0819-C512 is a serial communication adapter module for FANUC I/O Link distributed rack system, compatible with FANUC 16i-B,18i-B and 21i-B CNC controllers. It is installed into the slot of ABU05A or ABU10A I/O backplane, exchanging data with the CNC main control unit through FANUC proprietary I/O Link serial bus. This module acts as a protocol conversion gateway, converting I/O Link bus data into standard RS232 and RS485 serial signals, so the CNC system can communicate with external third-party serial devices that do not support the native FANUC bus. It supports half-duplex RS485 and full-duplex RS232 physical interfaces, and can realize bidirectional data transmission between CNC host and peripheral serial instruments, barcode readers, external display panels and auxiliary controllers.
The serial circuit adopts optocoupler isolation design between the internal I/O Link side and the external serial port side, which can block ground loop interference and protect the CNC control circuit from surge and static electricity coming from long-distance serial cables. Built-in EMC filtering components reduce signal distortion caused by electromagnetic noise from servo amplifiers and contactors inside the electrical cabinet. There are independent LED indicators on the front panel to display power status, I/O Link communication activity, RS232 transmit/receive and RS485 transmit/receive signals. Maintenance technicians can quickly judge whether the fault comes from the I/O bus, serial wiring or external slave device without relying on CNC diagnosis screens. The terminal part is equipped with screw terminals for serial signal wiring, with clear pin definition for TX, RX, GND and differential signal lines of RS485, convenient for field wiring and inspection.
The module adopts the classic yellow FANUC plug-in housing and locking buckle structure. After inserting into ABU series backplane, it can be locked firmly to avoid intermittent communication dropouts caused by mechanical vibration during cutting. It has good dust resistance and oil mist resistance, adapting to CNC workshop environments mixed with cutting fluid mist and fine metal powder. Users can configure serial baud rate, data bit, stop bit, parity check and PMC mapping address through CNC system parameters according to the communication protocol requirements of external equipment. It is commonly used for reading measurement data from external gauges, receiving barcode scanning information, sending production data to external display screens, and exchanging instructions with small auxiliary PLCs via serial protocol.
It serves as a direct replacement spare part for original serial communication modules with port damage, communication interruption, signal garbling and indicator failure on machining centers, CNC lathes, grinding machines and special processing machines equipped with 16i/18i/21i-B CNC systems. Every module will pass power-on aging test, I/O Link bus matching test and serial port communication test with standard serial equipment before shipment, verifying the stability of data receiving and transmitting under different baud rate settings. Replacing this module can quickly restore the CNC serial communication channel and recover data exchange with peripheral auxiliary equipment. It is widely used in mold precision machining, automotive parts turning, automated measuring stations and special machine production lines requiring serial data interaction.
