The Schneider 140CPU53414A processor module is a high-performance upgraded core control unit of Modicon Quantum PLC automation platform, designed for large-scale industrial process control applications requiring complex floating-point calculation and PID closed-loop regulation. This modicon quantum cpu module adopts 586 processor running at 200MHz clock frequency and integrates built-in floating-point coprocessor to deliver high-speed mathematical operations and process control algorithm execution. It is equipped with 2715kB battery-backed RAM for program and data storage, supporting LL984 ladder logic and IEC61131-3 standard programming languages. The scan time for 1K boolean LL984 instructions is extremely fast, suitable for heavy-duty automation tasks. This A version is the redesigned variant of 140CPU53414, and hot standby redundancy must use two A-version CPUs as a pair; the firmware of A version cannot be mixed with non-A version. It integrates two RS232 Modbus serial ports and one Modbus Plus communication port, supporting data exchange with local I/O modules, S908 remote I/O stations, distributed I/O, HMI touch screens and other field automation equipment. It can support up to 64 local I/O words, 64 remote I/O words and 30/32 distributed I/O words, supporting up to 31 remote drops and 63 distributed drops on Modbus Plus network. A fixed hardware watchdog timer is configured to detect abnormal program execution and trigger safety protection actions automatically. The onboard lithium battery retains RAM data and real-time clock information, with stable clock performance within 0~60℃ operating temperature range, and the lithium battery service life can reach up to 10 years. Programming can be completed via Concept software platform, and the module can be upgraded to Unity Pro firmware under qualified version conditions. It can be directly plugged into Quantum backplane rack and cooperate with full series of Quantum power supply, I/O and communication modules to build complete distributed control systems. This original Schneider product was discontinued on May 31,2015 and end-of-service on Dec 31,2025, widely stocked as spare replacement parts for maintenance and upgrade of legacy industrial automation systems. It is widely used in power, petrochemical, natural gas pipeline, metallurgy, water treatment and manufacturing plants as the core controller for large Modicon Quantum automation racks requiring high-speed floating-point and PID process control.
